Paul J. Knierim was appointed Probate Court Administrator
in 2008, after 10 years of service as judge of the Simsbury Probate Court. He
previously served three terms in the General Assembly, where he was assistant
minority leader and ranking member of the Education Committee.
From 1990 to 2000, Paul practiced law in the
estate planning field and was a partner in the office of Drew, Mersereau &
Knierim and later at Cummings & Lockwood. Before entering private
practice, he was law clerk to Chief Justice Ellen A. Peters.
Paul has been a member of the Connecticut Bar
Association since 1989 and was elected as a fellow of the Connecticut Bar
Foundation in 2010. His civic activities have included teaching English as a
second language at Literacy Volunteers Greater Hartford, chairmanship of the
Probate Assembly Ethics Committee and board memberships on the Simsbury
Cemetery Association, Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation and Simsbury
