Members of Judicial Conduct Council Present at Statewide Event for Probate Judges

Members of Judicial Conduct Council Present at Statewide Event for Probate Judges Ellington Probate Judge Elisa Bartlett, at left, a member of the state Council on Probate Judicial Conduct, was among the presenters at the Connecticut Probate Assembly’s recent quarterly meeting held on the campus of Central Connecticut State University. Joining her were fellow Council members Joseph Flynn, second from left, a former Appellate Court Judge who serves as chair of the Council, and James Connelly, at right, who is a New England Schools Development Council senior associate. They provided the statewide Probate Judges and clerks in attendance with an educational session on how the Council investigates judicial misconduct complaints.

Created by the Legislature in 1975, the Council consists of five members who serve four-year terms, and who are professionals both with and without hands-on legal experience. Pictured between Flynn and Connelly is Connecticut Probate Court Administrator Beverly Streit. Established to oversee, support and work to continuously improve Connecticut’s Probate Court system, the Office of the Probate Court Administrator hosted the event, led by its Law Department and the Probate Assembly’s Continuing Education Committee. Probate judges are required to attend at least 15 hours of continuing education each year.
