Ellington Probate Court Relocates to new space in Citizen’s Block

(ELLINGTON, CT) – The Ellington Probate Court, which serves the communities of Vernon and Ellington, has moved to its new court space at 32 Park Place in Citizen’s Block located in downtown Rockville.

The Honorable Elisa H. Bartlett, Probate Judge of the Ellington Probate Court, said this move was a true “labor of love” and the result of the efforts of several individuals over the course of several years. Judge Bartlett said the new location offers residents a comfortable place to complete forms and petitions, a family conference room to use for meetings prior to hearings, and a state-of-the-art courtroom.  “I feel so lucky and fortunate to be supported by two amazing towns which recognize the importance of the services that the Probate Court provides to the members of its communities,” Judge Bartlett said. “The new courtroom offers the residents of Vernon and Ellington a formal space to put forth their concerns, support their loved ones and to change their lives.”  “I am honored to serve as the Judge of Probate in such a beautiful space and to give the individuals I serve an official place to be heard,” Judge Bartlett stated.

Like all of Connecticut’s Probate Courts, the Ellington Probate Court works with families during times of need, providing services that include:
• Assisting older adults who need extra care to age in place in their own homes, instead of in a nursing facility
• Supervising the care and finances of individuals who need the assistance of a conservator
• Supporting individuals with intellectual disability to live in the community, rather than an institutional setting
• Keeping children in familiar surroundings, under the care of family and friend guardians, instead of being placed into foster care.

The new address of the Ellington Probate Court (PD-12) is 32 Park Place, Vernon, CT 06066. The court is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The court can be reached by phone at the same number, which is (860) 872-0519.
